Week 22

Topic "Chocolate"

Climates and countries that grow cocoa trees were discussed and identified on a map of the World this week. The children showed great interest in or work on using an Atlas.

Next week we will be discussing Fair Trade goods.

Maths

Our work on Time this week concentrated on telling the time.

The expectation at this level is that a pupil……..

·         can tell the time using seconds, minutes and hours.

·         Can read a 12 hour clock?

·         Can compare events and timescales using an appropriate standard unit of

time? For example, to work out how long to wait for a TV program to come on, to use bus timetables to work out when the next bus

Additional practise available by following the links below.

Literacy

Earlier in the week the children were asked to correct on extract from a Roald Dahl book. The children happily added speech marks, exclamation marks and other punctuation before re-writing the paragraph.

Other

Key Stage Two Poetry Competition – we were very proud of Barbara and Patrick this week when they performed confidently to a packed-out Auditorium.

Plum Air – we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel to Prague this week with Plum Airlines! They are working on a new IPC topic and passengers were needed. We all enjoyed the flight and we gave feed-back on their service. Well done Year 4 Plum.

We hope you have a relaxing weekend.
