Week 6

IPC topic: Living Communities

There was time this week for children to finish off some pieces of work and to have all their work included in their Topic book. The final piece of work was a summary of their learning in which the excitedly wrote about the parts of this topic that they enjoyed the most. See examples

Literacy
Big Talk and Big Write – thank you for your support and work with the children in developing their ideas.
I see the children confident and enthusiastic in talking about the topic of the week and when writing in the Big Write session on Friday.
Today we used new, florescent pencils for the first time. The children excitedly accepted my explanation about the pencils having ‘magic’ properties [ they automatically write capitals and full stops ! ].

Maths

We continued with multiplication and division and the connection between the two. This work included introducing a Venn diagram – please see example. Note that the MyMaths password has changed and is “budapest” now. We started with a quiz about 2-D shapes and we revised properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

International Day is on Monday 14th October.  This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the nationalities and cultures within our school. Please see the school newsletter for more details. If you would like to read a story from your country or share something from your culture with the children - then please see me, so we can arrange a time. Thank you.

Have a relaxing weekend.
