Term 1, Week 8

Wow! What a week we’ve had! Culture Week 2012 has been a fantastic 5 days in 3 Sahara – to quote one child ‘Can we please have culture 'year’!'

Throughout the week we have embraced our many cultures and been exposed to many others through concerts and workshops. The week certainly started with a bang thanks to the Samba band that had all of primary moving and grooving! From there we embarked on our individual postcard challenge until we went and ate our way around the world in the gym! Umbrella decorating, presenting our culture as homework to the class, Australian rock art, an African concert, as well as both Korean and Hungarian dancing were some of the activities that enthralled the children this week. They were also engaged in a Year 3 and 4 activity rotation where each class teacher provided a cultural workshop for the children to each experience. Our parent activities were a wonderful added bonus to the week; thank you so much to those who were able to come in and for all your incredible preparation, the children loved having you in the classroom.

The week ended with colour with the children dressed in their national costume or flag colours.  An afternoon of cultural delights was enjoyed by all thanks to visiting the Expo and the fantastic Culture Concert. A star act was definitely the Year 3 Welsh song!

Thank you for all your support to make this week the wonderful week it was. From the incredible food court to helping gather items for postcards and our umbrella, your support has been invaluable and most appreciated.

Have a wonderful and relaxing half term break.
