Term 1, Week 6
My desk is covered in dinosaurs!

This week we have got stuck into our new topic and it has been wonderful to see this interest carried home with excited children bringing in items to share with the class. Our new topic lends itself to many fantastic cross-curricular links so we are making the most of Dino mania in 3 Sahara! We have begun with a Knowledge Harvest to discover what the children know already about dinosaurs and what they would like to find out during this topic that will take us up to the end of term. Dinosaur masks were also made and proudly paraded home today!

We have also used our new topic as writing inspiration this week for our new unit on Information Texts to learn what a key word is and we have begun developing the skill of note-taking through reading texts about different types of dinosaurs.

In Numeracy we have continued our learning of money and had fun going ‘shopping’ this week where the children have practiced adding 2 or more items together and also worked on giving change from a certain amount.
*A great ‘Dino’ Maths game that has them excavating dinosaur bones by using coordinates can be also be accessed by the link below: http://www.counton.org/games/flash/virtualmathfest/dinosaur.swf

A couple of notices…

Please note that when using the MyMaths website from now on, the password on the first page has changed from ‘blue’ to ‘black’. The first username remains as ‘bisb’ and your child’s personal login details also remain the same.

Culture week is coming and we would love you to join us in 3 Sahara to share your culture with us if you can. Please let me know if have something you would like to do with the class during this week (the 15th-19th of October). The children love to see parents in the classroom and so do we!

It was wonderful to meet with you all this week.

Have a lovely weekend.
