Topic "Chocolate"
We discussed advertising and we created our own [chocolate] adverts.
Testing Fair-trade and comparing to Non-trade chocolate was great fun this week.
We each tasted a sample of white and dark chocolate [ fair trade and non-fair trade]. The children were quite definite in their preferences.
We were able to collate the information and our conclusions are shown below.
Maths
More work and practise on Subtraction of 2-digit numbers from 2-digit and 3-digit numbers
this week saw more children become confident and capable in answering sums.
Work on 3-D
shapes and on Angles was
introduced and will continue next week.
Literacy
We continued
with work on Authors and Letters this week. We “wrote” to Roald Dahl
and asked him about the characters in his books and about his ideas. We are also
preparing for a very short sketch; based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
to perform at next week’s Key Stage 2 assembly. This is part of the “Reading List”
initiative.
The children completed some Literacy Assessments
this week. This included writing and a standard reading (comprehension) test. Well
done Boys and Girls J
